Second, as you probably already know, the solution to your problem almost surely rests with some sort of proxy or vpn solution. First, since you mentioned Hulu in your original post, I decided to see what I could find on Google (which I'm sure that you have already done) and saw several articles mentioning Hotspot Shield (which I ignored since you said you have already tried it) but I also found this other webpage that offered a couple seemingly descent suggestions. There are only a couple other things that I can think of other than the aforementioned solution. In Firefox you can configure that by going to _remote_dns in about:config and setting it to true. I believe that most services determine your location by your DNS query. I know that 64 kb/s is extremely slow if you need to load everything over it, but not if you only use it for DNS. I'm not suggesting running everything over the proxy, only DNS queries. If you have more suggestions I'm all ears.

And the free package is pretty useless consider I would use it to watch videos. If their plan was a bit more reasonable for someone whose used to blistering high speed connections I might do it. 40 bucks just to watch shows and movies? No thanks. I'm guessing 24mbits/s at best) but costs 30 US dollars a month. Their higher plans promise far better performance (sounds doubtful as it only says "unlimited" meaning they don't wanna say what the actual speed is. that's like an old fashion phone line modem connect.

On the package websites it says the free service offers 64 kbits/s. A scan is a-due pretty soon.īut uuh, about Your Freedom. (I would recommend using either Spybot Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, or both.) Edited Jby xorangekiller You should probably do an anti-spyware scan after you remove that software.

On a side note, from your original description of the software you are currently using, it does sound a little like you have spyware on your computer. Any other piece of web-enabled software that you need to configure to use a proxy should have a simple, documented procedure similar to the ones for Firefox and Internet Explorer. To configure Internet Explorer to use a proxy server go to Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings, check "Use a proxy server for your LAN", click Advanced, and fill in the server name and port number for your SOCKS proxy server. To configure Firefox to use a proxy server go to Tools->Options->Advanced->Network->Settings, tick "Manual proxy configuration:" and fill in the server name and port number for your SOCKS proxy server. To get the proxy server just sign up for an account with Your Freedom they do a descent job of explaining what you need to know about that on their website. Wikipedia gives good explanations of both proxy and SOCKS. Are there any alternatives? A better software? Or something I can adjust myself in my network settings? my ISP has no limit, so to suddenly be a person with a monthly bandwidth budget is quite disturbing and unsettling.

Plus I read somewhere it has a 3GB bandwidth limit for a month. I noticed online videos loading slowly and some websites as well. And also, though I can't verify this, but I think Hotspot Shield slows down my internet. Considering the amount of ads I get just because of this software I'm scared it might be forcing some spyware on me. Taking up a whole lot of space from the browser view. And the most unforgivable thing of all It puts in a banner ad at the top of ever single page. Plus it forces in a whole bunch of it's own ads into websites. For one thing I keep hearing that clicking sound I used to hear in IE whenever an Ad was appearing or refreshing. Its great having access to Hulu and Netflix again, but the software itself bugs me. Now I recently (earlier today) found out about this Hotspot Shield thing. Plus I wanna have access to Hulu and keep using the Netflix account I made on my last visit to the US. It still freaks the heck out of me when some IRC chat person suddenly asks me "How's the weather over there in ******?". I have for a long time wanted to be able to surf the web without all he regional restrictions.
