The California Department of Insurance is seeking penalties against Mercury Insurance for overcharging good drivers. Mercury offers several discounts to help you save on auto insurance. Personal injury protection (PIP) is required in 15 states. It pays for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages and for some services, such as child care costs, if you’re unable to perform the task. Personal injury protection: This coverage can pays for injuries to you and your passengers, regardless of who caused the accident. It’s required in some states and optional in others. Medical payments: Helps pay for medical expenses for injuries to you and your passengers resulting from a car accident, regardless of fault. Uninsured motorist coverage is required in 22 states, and the coverage amount normally matches your liability limits. 
Underinsured and uninsured motorist: This type of auto insurance pays for medical expenses if you or your passengers are injured in an accident caused by a driver who is uninsured or doesn’t have enough coverage to pay for your bills. State law doesn’t require it, but if you have a lease or loan, your lender or leasing company will require it along with collision coverage. Comprehensive: If your car is stolen or damaged by vandalism, fire, floods, hail, falling objects or animal collisions, comprehensive can pay for repairs or for the vehicle’s value. Collision coverage pays out the actual cash value of your car if it’s declared a total loss. It also covers damage if you hit something, like a guardrail or pole. Collision: This type of car insurance helps pay to repair or replace your car, regardless of who caused the accident. Liability insurance can also cover court costs if you’re sued. Liability: Property damage and bodily injury liability insurance pay for damage and injuries to others you cause in an accident. It is loaded with great features: 460 cid, auto transmission, power driver's seat (6 position), air conditioning, power steering, etc. It is in the same pristine condition as the exterior. I had an appraisal done on it and it came to be in the "Fair Market Value" range of $14,000.00 to $15,000.00. According to the (Marti Report photo of report in pictures) this is the ONLY vehicle ever produced with it's unique option package. This car is very rare in the white with black vinyl top combination. My wife is telling me that we need other things more than we need a car, also, my age is 71 yrs and it will be difficult to take care of the car as it should be.
