I tend to caution people about anecdotal recommendations ("I've bought X and it's great") because it's just that - an anecdote from someone who's only seen one or two devices of the hundreds in the marketplace. You could do worse than have a look there. If you want some (reasonably) objective metrics on the perfomance of SOHO kit, SmallNetBuilder have tables of WAN-to-LAN performance and various other measures for quite a good selection of SOHO gear. Routing/NAT/Firewalling (all of which your HH does) is a more complex process than (say) switching or (er) "modeming," so you'd expect it to be slower - especially with cheap SOHO kit that has small memories and tiny processors.

If you connect direct to your modem, you would expect better performance because youve eliminated a "router" from the pathway. Wait another 24 hrs, then wait for replacement HH3 to get here (when they agree to it) and hopefully that one will work poperly for more than a few weeks. That's what frustrates me with these companies, they never actually listen to what you tell them, I've diagnosed the fault for them, and still they fob me off.

I expect a device that has to manage a wireless network and forward packets to different devices to have a delay of sorts, but when the wireless is off, and no other devices on, then there should be very little drop in performance compared to a direct connection, waiting for a web page to load for 10 seconds or more, shows there is a problem.
REPLACEMENT FOR 3HUB PC
This is dispite the fact, that the line speed is okay, and when I by-pass the HH3 completely and connect the PC directly to the modem, I get absolutely perfect traffic speeds, no lags, no delays. Have spoken to BT and am now waiting for them to complete their line tests (they didn't need to do). I've looked at the TP link TL-WDR4300, but wanted some real world fedback before I waste my money potentially.
